Hello everyone!
I’ve lived in Newcastle for more than 30 years and consider myself an adopted Geordie, though I still can’t speak the language. I’m a relatively successful playwright who has also worked as a journalist and spin-doctor for the City Council. Prior to that I served in the Royal Navy for 16 years joining, presciently, as a Writer. I hold an MA in Creative Writing (Crime Fiction) from UEA. My first novel, The Man on the Street, which is set in my home city, was published by Quercus in March 2020 and won the CWA John Creasey New Blood Dagger and the Crimefest Specsavers Debut Crime Novel of the Year. It was also shortlisted for the Theakston’s Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year. It was followed by the sequel, One Way Street in 2021 and the final book of the Jimmy Mullen trilogy, Dead End Street, in 2022. My fourth novel, You Can Run, a standalone thriller set in Northumberland was longlisted for the Theakston’s Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year. My new series, featuring DCI Jack Parker, began with The Silent Killer. The sequel, The Inside Man is out in July 2025. I am represented by the estimable Oli Munson at AM Heath.
